Halide Kamay Smith is a composer and artist, composing music for a variety
of musical instruments from contemporary to classic. She paints in oil,
watercolor and acrylic.
As a child of Kazan Turk, Ms. Smith was born and raised in Korea and moved
to Turkey at a young age. Ms. Smith is world-traveled and has been
influenced by many cultures which are reflected in her unique and
innovative musical compositions.
Ms. Smith studied piano from an early age with a German teacher in Korea.
Once she moved to the United States, she attended Northern Oklahoma
College studying music. She also studied orchestration at Oklahoma State
University.

Events
Halide K. Smith presented two musical programs of her work to the
National League of American Pen Women Sarasota Branch at the Sarasota
Yacht Club and to the Sigma Alpha Iota, International Music Fraternity
at St. George Episcopal Church, Bradenton. Performers were Bonnie
Wolfgram (piano), Barbara Jensen (organ), Francesca Veglia-Dansky
(soprano) and Estelle Schultz (flute). Piano and flute composition
"Songs of Kajako" (Halide's childhood songs) were premiered at the
Sarasota Yacht Club.
